KUWAIT, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- Director of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research Dr. Samira Omar said Monday that KISR has been leading the country's efforts to expand the use of renewable energy in various sectors.
Speaking at a symposium organized by the American University of Kuwait (AUK) in cooperation with KISR, she emphasized KISR's eagerness to cooperate with all scientific and energy institutions for the optimal use of renewable energy in Kuwait.
In this regard, she signaled out the fruitful cooperation between KISR and the national petroleum sector.
She viewed that the collaboration between KISR, as a scientific body, the government and the private sector would lead to great results in this domain.
She recalled His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Al-Sabah announcement in the climate change conference in Doha 2012 about Kuwait's plan to generate 15 percent of its energy needs from renewable energy sources.
for his part, President of AUK Dr. Nizar Hamza underlined the need for a real change in people's behavior in terms of energy consumption.
He added that the two-day conference would tackle the technical, administrative and economic challenges facing the wider use of renewable energy and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation's vision for renewable energy production. (end) zak.ibi
