GENEVA, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait National Assembly Secretary General Allam Al-Kanderi said Monday that the upcoming meetings of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) will address ways to enhance services of legislative institutions.
The Kuwaiti parliamentary official made his remarks to KUNA on the sidelines of his participation at the 135th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.
The meetings will also address general-secretariats' experiences with enhancing the administrative and technical performances of their staff, in addition to parliamentary committees' roles, powers, particularly in international negotiations, and parliamentary procedures, Al-Kanderi added.
He pointed out the Kuwaiti parliamentary diplomacy in defending national, Arab, and Islamic causes, and its impact on backing Kuwait's official foreign policy in serving humanitarian and national causes.
The meetings will also review ideas and proposals regarding keeping parliaments in pace with the rapid changes in technology and communication such as improving e-services for members and the public, and focusing on the vital role of social media networks in raising parliamentary awareness, Al-Kanderi noted.
