Official lauds Kuwait 10th Int'l Regatta

KUWAIT, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- The 10th Kuwait International Regatta, October 20-22, has been a successful tournament that met expectations and revealed participants' capabilities, said Kuwait Sea Sports Club (KSSC) Secretary General Khalid Al-Foudari.
Al-Foudari added in a press statement on Sunday that the regatta was organized by the Sail, Rowing Committee (Kayak) with the participation of 90 competitors from several Arab and foreign countries, such as Greece, the UK, Bulgaria, South Korea and India.
The tournament that started on Thursday through Saturday reiterated the KSSC's keenness to enhance opportunities for competition in the sport. The participation of major world referees has also added a lot to the event, Al-Foudari said.
Egypt's Mohammad El-Tambouli won first place in Optimist general category, as Kuwaiti Abdullah Al-Qassar came second and the Bulgarian Klement Saratov ranked third.
In the Optimist juniors' contest, Kuwait's Ali Ahmad Al-Failakawi won first place as UAE's Yazia Al-Mansouri and Ola Al-Bishre won second and third places respectively, Kuwaiti official said.
In female Optimist contest Kuwaiti Sarah Al-Assaf won first place, and Indian Nethia Balashender came second and UAE's Salma Al-Bisher third.
In Laser 4.7 class, Egyptian Ali Badawi won first place, UAE's Ahmad Al-Hammadi was and Indian Mahish third.
In the female Laser 4.7 class, Kuwait's Amina Shah ranked first as Indian Johi Desai came second and Kuwaiti Suad Al-Assaf third.
In General Laser Radial contest, a Bulgarian won first place, Qatar's Fares Al-Bakri came second and Kuwait's Jassem BuHamad third. (end) ayr.ha
