WASHINGTON, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- A US airstrike struck two targets in central Yemen, killing eight terrorists associated with Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday.
On October 6, a strike killed two terrorists in a remote area of the Shabwah Governorate, a statement said.
A second strike on October 18 killed six terrorists also in a remote area of the Shabwah Governorate.
"Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula remains a significant threat to the region and to the United States," said CENTCOM Spokesperson Josh T. Jacques in the statement. "Al-Qaeda's presence has a destabilizing effect on Yemen, and we are working to deny them a haven from which to plan future attacks." (end)
