JEDDAH, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Director General and Chairman of Board of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has stressed the significance of action in line with a joint Gulf strategy to reactivate Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz's GCC development vision.
Sheikh Abdullah made the statement to KUNA on Monday while heading the Kuwaiti delegation partaking in the 38th meeting of GCC undersecretaries of environment that is currently hosted by the Saudi City of Jeddah.
The Saudi King's vision calls for promoting regional and international status of GCC states and preserving marine environment as well as addressing desertification, scarcity of underground water and climate change, he said.
He referred to Kuwait's experiment in involving civil society organizations in board of directors of EPA, supervising nature reserves, and reviewing the environment law and its executive rule.
The strategic plan of the 38th meeting that includes initiatives and programs is in line with the unification of Gulf environment systems and the directives of the GCC leaders on the joint action, he noted. (end) nh.hm
