KUWAIT, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) Dr. Farid Ayar has underlined that the current federation's conference has a key role in promoting media cooperation amongst Arab news agencies on one hand and supporting Arab media generally on the other hand.
Ayar made the statement to KUNA on Monday while arriving in Kuwait to take part in the 44th General Assembly of FANA on October 17-19.
"We are trying to address several pending issues like increasing sharing news amongst Arab news agencies," he said.
The topics pertaining to the forums recently held in Tunis, London and other capitals would be discussed, he said, adding that FANA established "strong ties with Reuters so as to develop news coverage".
An idea of holding a big symposium in Paris in collaboration with France's news agency (AFP) will also be discussed, he noted.
Ayar stressed that KUNA is a founder of FANA and it hosted many forums of the federation, referring to the key role of KUNA Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak AlDuaij AlIbrahim Al-Sabah in supporting the federation on all levels.
Ayar wished KUNA further progress and success. (end) mdm.nsh.ysa.hm
