Yemen turns down presidency of upcoming Arab summit

CAIRO, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- Yemen's delegate to the Arab League Ambassador Riyadh Al-Akbari has verbally informed the league's Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit about his country's un-readiness to preside over the upcoming 28th Arab summit.
The rotating presidency of the summit would eventually move to Jordan, according to the Arab League charter, the Arab League Secretary General's Spokesman Plenipotentiary Minister Mahmoud Afifi said.
He added the Yemeni diplomat provided the Arab League Secretary General with a detailed illustration about the current situation and about the latest developments in Yemen. (end) mfm.esm.ibi
