KUWAIT, Oct 12 (KUNA) -- Uruguay's non-resident Ambassador to Kuwait Carlos Mora underscored on Wednesday ample room for improvement in the Latin American nation's ties with the Gulf, particularly, Kuwait.
On a visit to the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mora told KUNA that commercial trade between Uruguay and the Gulf remains mediocre, noting that the volume of trade with Kuwait has not exceeded KD five million.
Moreover, he spoke of a robust investment scene in his country, adding that international indicators point to the fact that Uruguay is amongst the world's least corrupt nations, adding that quality production lies at the epicenter of his nation's economic activity.
On the visit, Mora said that it is an opportunity for increased joint cooperation between Uruguay and Kuwait. He also noted that the Uruguayan delegation will offer a slew of projects to investors in Gulf nations.
Speaking on his country's production output, he noted it stands at USD 55 billion while the unemployment rate is at seven percent.
Kuwait and Uruguay signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) in 2010, as this visit by the Uruguayan delegation comes as a prelude to a broader meeting between both nations expected soon. (end) abd.nam
