RIYADH, Oct 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Information, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL) Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah arrived in the Saudi capital Tuesday to partake in a GCC cultural meeting.
The minister was received at the airport by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and officials from the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information.
Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud will partake in the 22nd meeting for GCC Cultural Ministers which will be headed by Saudi Culture and Information Minister Adell All-Turayfi.
The meeting will focus on boosting cooperation amongst GCC countries within the cultural field and it will also touch on the 2017-18 GCC national cultural program.
An additional meeting for GCC tourism officials will be held to discuss cooperation amongst countries in the region.

Minister Sheikh Salman, in an arrival statement to KUNA, noted significance of the scheduled meeting for boosting cooperation among the GCC countries in tourism and culture.
The GCC states are ought to address various issues with joint strategies, considering challenges looming around the Gulf region, he indicated.
Such cooperation, particularly in the cultural sector, is significant for countering intellectual violence, extremism and terrorism, he said, expressing particularly concern at deviating ideas that have been disseminating at high speed reaching and affecting the innocent young via the digital media.
He also expressed his belief that culture, the media and tourism are interrelated and should be employed to boost the GCC national identity. (end) yms.gta
