KUWAIT, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- 1954 -- An Amiri Decree was issued establishing the Kuwaiti National Cinema Company.
1960 -- Amiri Decree 9/1960 was issued founding Kuwait National Petroleum Company.
1961 -- Kuwait established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
1977 -- Decree 128/1977 was declared establishing Standards and Specifications Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
1980 -- Dr. Abdulrazaq Al-Adwani was assigned as the fifth Kuwait University rector.
1992 -- A total of 81,440 Kuwaiti voters headed to polling stations to elect 50 MPs in the first parliamentary elections after liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi occupation.
1996 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued Decree 215/1996 establishing the Supreme Council of the Environment Public Authority (EPA), chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, with a 1-member board, six of them were ministers.
2001 -- Former Dean of Kuwait University's Engineering Faculty Dr. Imad Al-Ateeqi became the first Arab and Gulf citizen to attain accreditation as an approved stock market consultant.
2001 -- Minister of Health Dr. Mohammad Al-Jarallah won the certificate as fellow of Surgeons College in Edinburgh, for his tireless efforts in the field of tumor surgery and endoscopy.
2010 -- Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, Minister of Justice, and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Rashed Al-Hammad opened Kuwait Cultural Center in Bangkok, Thailand. Kuwaitis donated USD 1.52 million for its construction. (end) rk
