AMMAN, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah met with Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, FIFA Vice President and President of the Jordan Football Association (JFA), here on Friday evening.
The meeting focused on ways of further boosting the cooperation between the two sisterly countries, particularly in the areas of youth and sports, Sheikh Salman told KUNA.
"We seek to open new horizons of the already close cooperation and benefit from Jordan's long experience through visit exchanges between youth from both countries," he said, highlighting the need of caring for youth.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup; the championship will continue until October 21.
Sheikh Salman extolled Jordan for hosting the international championship and preparing for the spectacular opening ceremony.
He thanked Prince Ali and Jordanian Minister of Youth Rami Wreikat for the invitation sent to him to attend this event.
Sheikh Salman arrived in Jordan yesterday, leading a Kuwaiti delegation to the event. The delegation includes Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Youth Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Sabah and President of the Kuwaiti Football Association Fawaz Al-Hassawi as well as other sports officials.
On his part, Al-Hassawi said in similar statements to KUNA that this is the first time for Jordan or an Arab country to host the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, which reflects the FIFA trust in the Arab countries.
He commended the great efforts made by the Jordanian authorities to set the stage for the fifth edition of such an international event.
Al-Hassawi affirmed Kuwait's keenness on promoting the sports cooperation with Jordan particularly in the football field.
He expressed gratitude to the Jordanian officials for warm reception and hospitality. (end) mjb.gb
