Egypt's assistant public prosecutor survives assassination bid

CAIRO, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- Assistant to the Public Prosecutor for Judicial Inspection Affairs Justice Zakaria Abdulaziz survived an attempt on his life when a car bomb attack targeted his convoy on Thursday.
The bombing took place in Al-Banafsij Neighborhood, Al-Tajamou' Al-Awal (the First Settlement), New Cairo City, while Justice Abdulaziz was going back home, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.
Neither Justice Abdulaziz nor any of his guards was injured in the attack but a passersby was hurt and was moved to a nearby hospital, the statement noted.
The car was carrying nearly 20 kg of the highly-explosive TNT material, MENA reported, citing a security source. (end) aff.gb
