Coalition kills 18 IS leaders in 30 days

(MIL-US-IS) WASHINGTON, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- 18 leaders of the so-called Islamic State (IS) were killed over the past 30 days as a result of coalition airstrikes, said a US military official Thursday. 13 of those killed were based in Mosul, Iraqsaid Combined Joint Task Force spokesperson John Dorrian told reporters.
"The people who replace these leadership figures have not established their bona fides with (IS leader Abu Bakr) Al Baghdadi, his inner circle, and they are often not as seasoned as those they replace. "This is especially true around Mosul as the coalition continues to be a relentless in degrading and disrupting command and control of their fighters," Dorrian affirmed.
The coalition has now launched over 15,000 airstrikes that have dismantled IS' "command and control by taking away safe houses, weapons manufacturing, and storage facilities, supply routes, revenue, and money," Dorrian added. (end) ak.gb
