Typhoon Megi kills four, injures 527 across Taiwan

TOKYO, Sept 28 (KUNA) -- At least four people died and 527 others were injured by Typhoon Megi as it rampaged through Taiwan, the Taipei-based Central News Agency reported Wednesday, citing authorities. More than 3.8 million houses suffered power outages, and nearly 300,000 households had their water supply cut off, as of early Wednesday, Taiwan's Central Emergency Operation Center said. A total of 189 domestic flights and 35 international flights around Taiwan were canceled on Tuesday. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is expected to handle 750 flights Wednesday, and all flights disrupted by the typhoon were expected to return to normal by Thursday according to the airport.
Train service, which was canceled for most of Tuesday, was also scheduled to start up again Wednesday. (end) mk.ha
