76 judicial personnel detained in Turkey

ANKARA, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- Security authorites have arrested 76 judicial personnel in simultaneous raids carried out in four towns, as part of ongoing efforts aimed at finding and punishing culprits of the recent futile bid to depose the government, the official news agency Anadolu reported on Monday.
Anti-terrorism squads staged a security operation in Izmir, detaining public notaries on suspicion of affiliations with "the parallel entity" of Fethullah Gulen. The involved officers acted upon up 101 arrest warrants.
Up to 76 suspects were detained in the operation targeting Izmir, Manisa, Kutahya and Konya.
Turkish authorities, since the coup d'etat, have nabbed 42,000 persons and dismissied up to 81,000 civil and military personnel.
On July 15, Istanbul and other cities witnessed a bid by military troops to bring down the government, which accused Gulen of masterminding the operation and urged Washington to send him back home for trial. (end) rs.rk
