KUWAIT, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said Sunday the kind patronage by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for the Fifth Youth Empowerment Conference reflects the political leadership's care for youth.
"Since the start of this annual chain of conferences in 2012 under aegis of His Highness the Amir, the political leadership has showed deep belief in the national role of the youth who constitute the real treasure of the country," he said.
Sheikh Salman made the comments at the opening ceremony of the conference where he represents His Highness the Amir.
He said the success of the conference over the last five years lies in commitment by its organizers, participants and sponsors to the principles of social responsibility and the values of patriotism.
"The Ministry of State for Youth Affairs and the Public Authority for Youth work with other government and non-government organizations, whether local or international, to hone the entrepreneurial spirit of the youth in all fields of development," Sheikh Salman affirmed. He voiced hope that youth volunteers will engage in a public awareness campaign against extremist ideology, sectarianism and terrorism, with a view to promoting the values of tolerance, peace and coexistence in keeping with the call of His Highness the Amir.
Meanwhile, chairman of the conference Ali Al-Ibrahim said the conference seeks to inspire the young entrepreneurs to start small and medium size enterprises which constitute the backbone of economy.
"The gathering provides a chance for youth to network, improve their talents, and benefit from the experience of world-renowned academics, industrialists and economists," he added. (end) zak.tab.gb
