KUWAIT, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- 1954 -- A number of Kuwaiti businessmen presented a request to the Government for formation of a cinema company. The license was granted in 10 days and the company shares were floated in public subscription.
1990 -- The United Nations Security Council (INSC) issued Resolution 670 for a no-fly zone over Iraq with a majority vote of 14 and Cuba against.
1997 -- Kuwait became a board member of the Washington-based World Alliance for Citizen Participation (CIVICUS), represented by Naeema Al-Shayji.
2000 -- Kuwait's Abdullah Al-Maqdisi won the West Asian Tennis Singles Tournament for under-16, after emerging victorious from the final game against his Syrian counterpart with 2-0, 3-6, and 6-0 sets.
2001 -- Kuwaiti medical team at Al-Bahar Specialist Ophthalmology Center succeeded in conducting an operation on the retina of a premature new born weighing no more than 750 grams after caring for the child in an incubator for two months.
2005 -- Kuwait Engineers' Society became the first GCC society to be granted membership in the International Project Management Association.
2005 -- Kuwait Society for Islamic Sciences was proclaimed.
2010 -- Kuwait National Ice-Hockey team came second in Malaysia's international tournament which saw participation of six teams and held under the banner of International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). (end) rk
