Ban commends Kuwait's hosting of Yemen peace talks

NEW YORK, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday commended Kuwait's efforts to spread peace globally, manifested recently by hosting peace talks among the Yemeni parties.
Ban, during a meeting with Kuwait's First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at the UN, said Kuwait's international humanitarian role has contributed to alleviating suffering of millions of people and devastated areas around the world.
Ban said the UN would exert every possible effort to implement Security Council resolutions, namely those related to the fate of Kuwaiti prisoners and missing in Iraq, as well as the national archive of the State of Kuwait.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled commended the constructive role of Ban during his two-term tenure in office. Ban's tenure is set to end by end of this year.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled's office Ambassador Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Kuwait's permanent representative to the UN Mansour Al-Otaibi and Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations Nasser Al-Haayyen.
