KUWAIT, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- The embassy of Kazakhstan honored on Wednesday famed Kuwaiti poet Abdulaziz Al-Babtain, presenting him with an honorary gold medal for his contributions to Arabic literature.
The gold medal is a token of appreciation for a man who helped develop Arabic literature and was instrumental to the betterment of Kuwait's ties with the central Asian nation, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Kuwait Almas Abdramanov said in a speech during a ceremony to honor Al-Babtain.
Moreover, Abdramanov added that the Kuwaiti poet helped educate Kazakh pupils in a number of academic institutions.
Meanwhile, speaking on the medal, the Kazakh Ambassador said that it is given to notable figures who have made indelible and remarkable contributions in their respective fields.
In a speech of his own, Al-Babtain said that he is elated to have been honored by the Kazakh embassy, noting that his efforts over the years are acknowledged and appreciated.
The University of Oxford had recently conferred the honor of "Laudian Professor of Arabic" upon Al-Babtain, the highlight of a career dedicated to developing the Arabic language. (end) aas.nam
