KUWAIT, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- The UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center" reiterates the country's philanthropic role, said Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Hilal Al-Sayer.
Al-Sayer made the statement to KUNA Thursday on the occasion of the second anniversary of the global honoring of His Highness the Amir.
His Highness Amir was honored in a ceremony held at the UN headquarters in New York, Sept 9, 2014.
This second anniversary offers an opportunity to stress anew the continuation of Kuwait's humanitarian march, he said.
The UN title came in recognition of His Highness the Amir's colossal humanitarian efforts worldwide, Al-Sayer added.
Kuwait's humanitarian role under His Highness the Amir has been widely promoted, developing the country into a "capital of humanitarian work and donors offering aid to help the afflicted people around the globe," the KRCS chief said.
He noted that the KRCS has become a world leading body for aid and relief work thanks to support by His Highness the Amir and the Kuwaiti political leadership. (end) hny.amj.msa
