Algerian, UN officials discuss political situation in Libya

ALGIERS, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- Algeria's Minister of African Union and the Arab League Abdulkader Messahel discussed with visiting UN Special Representative for Libya Martin Kobler recent developments of the political situation in Libya.
The discussion included exchanging views on Libyan peace and national reconciliation statuses, Messahel said in a press statement.
He noted that his talks with Kobler is part of a series of meetings that aim at exchanging views and analysis on latest situation developments in Libya.
For his part, Kobler said that his talks with the Algerian minister also included anti-terrorism efforts, particularly in Sirte, Libya, pointing out the possibility of liberating the city from the so-called Islamic State (IS) soon.
He also praised Algeria's effective, constructive, and vital efforts in restoring peace and national conciliation in Libya, expressing his satisfaction with Algiers' support of Libya. (end) ft.ma
