KHARTOUM, Sept 1 (KUNA) -- The Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO) praised Thursday the relief aid efforts by Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) to the victims of Sudan's floods which had a negative impact on thousands of lives.
Secretary General of the ARCO Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, in press remarks, thanked Kuwait "for its great humanitarian support of the Sudanese people." He added that Kuwait is a leading country in offering relief to people suffering from disasters.
While accompanying the KRCS team in the Shambat district, north of Sudan, Al-Suhaibani said that "It was encouraging to see the KRCS and other Arab relief organizations offering aid after the flood." He added that the disaster had affected 161,000 people, resulting in a trail of death and destruction.
On his part, the Secretary General of Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) Osman Jaafar thanked the KRCS for offering aid.
KRCS and other Kuwaiti charitable societies distributed aid to some 1,250 families in various areas affected by the floods. (end) hha.lb
