CAIRO, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- The Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit on Wednesday expressed support to the international efforts to counter sexual violence in conflicts.
Abul-Gheit met in Cairo today with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zainab Bangura.
During the meeting, the League's chief and the UN official exchanged views on promoting bilateral cooperation for combating rising violence against women in conflict, Abul-Gheit's spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said.
Boosting the international moves to combat terrorism and terrorist groups will strongly help counter violations against women, Abul-Gheit, said.
For her part, Bangura reviewed her efforts and contacts to fulfil her mission, including her last report that was submitted to the UN Security Council. (end) mfm.aff.msa
