Iran trade volume with China up to USD 40 bln

TEHRAN, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- Iran's trade volume with China has significantly increased to USD 40 billion per year, compared to USD 3 billion during the two countries trade beginnings, official media reported Saturday.
Iranian-Chinese cooperation in hi-tech and engineering exports helped in boosting their ties, Behrouz Alishiri, member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (TCCIM), said, according to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
The Chinese government is currently seeking energy sources, prompting the Iranian government to form new policies regarding enhancing the two countries' relations, Alishiri added.
For her part, Feryal Mostofi, Chairman of the TCCIM Foreign Investment Committee, stressed the importance of attracting the Chinese companies into Iranian markets, particularly real estate markets, adding that China also needs Iranian oil and gas.
Iran's commercial and economic policy focuses on cooperation in the industrial field with various countries, Mostofi said, adding that China is currently at the top of Iran's priorities in the trade exchange filed. (end) fz.ma
