KUWAIT, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's development plan does not overlook environmental conservation, Assistant Secretary of Planning Affairs of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD) Talal Al-Shammeri said on Saturday.
Al-Shammeri made the remarks during a discussion panel put together by a United Nations program on environmental sustainability, in conjunction with a Qatari team of UN representatives.
Moreover, a GSSCPD statement noted that Al-Shammeri underlined Kuwait's committment to its 2030 development plan, as he detailed several of the country's goals of sustained development.
Speaking on these goals, Al-Shammeri said plans to provide durable sources of energy at meager costs remain the cornerstone of the country's environmental strategy.
Meanwhile, he also added that economic goals focus primarily on ways to diversify the country's revenue pool, which would ensure a more robust economy.
The discussion panel was attended by representatives from across the country's government spectrum, in addition to numerous companies and institutes. (end) asa.nam
