Colleagues kills four policemen in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- At least four Afghan policemen have been killed by their colleagues at a check post in Afghanistanآ’s central Uruzgan province, said security official on Friday.
Provincial deputy police chief, Col. Abdul Qavi Omari told media that the assailants managed to escape after the shooting at a checkpoint in the Kakrak area near provincial capital Tirinkot.
The security forces clashed with Taliban rebels for several hours before reaching the scene to probe the incident. The militants fled, leaving behind their motorbikes, he said.
Omari confirmed that three out of seven policemen, who were manning the check post, joined the Taliban after killing their colleagues taking away the weapons as well.
The attack came at a time when the international leaders agreed to support the war-torn Afghanistan with about 12,000 NATO troops and funding pledge of USD five billion a year for Afghan National Defense and Security Forces through 2020. (end) sbk.bs
