Talks among US, Russia, UN concerning Syria

GENEVA, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- Another round of talks started on Friday between the US and Russia, where senior officials of the two major powers discussed results of their previous meetings concerning Syria.
US Secretary of State John Kerry met with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, where the UN's Special Envoy for Syria Stafan de Mistura joined them to explain the humanitarian plan for the UN to deliver aid to the Syrian city of Halab (Aleppo).
De Mistura said in statement before the meeting that if all parties agree on a truce for 48 hours then the UN could send humanitarian aid to Aleppo.
Meanwhile, De Mistura touched on the situation in the city of Darya, located on outskirts of the Syrian capital, that had been under siege since November 2012, describing the conditions there as "very dangerous and tragic." The estimated 8,000 population of Daraya are currently being evacuated according to a deal between the Damascus regime and city notables.
However, humanitarian condition for civilians in Aleppo has remained tragic, with mounting shortage of basic supplies and ongoing fierce fighting among the foe combatants in and around the city. (end) ta.mys
