ISTANBUL, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- Eight policemen were killed and 45 individuals were injured in a booby-trapped car attack on a police checkpoint in Cizre town located in Sirnak province southeast of Turkey, said a security source Friday.
According to the Anadolu Agency, which quoted the source, said the attack targeted a checkpoint some 50 meters away from a riot police unit located in the town of Cizre.
The injured were transported to nearby a hospital for treatment while the police building, where the attack took place, sustained some serious damage.
The source said that the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) might be behind the attack. (pickup previous)
