Iraqi lawmakers votes to impeach Defence Min.

BAGHDAD, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Iraqi lawmakers voted to impeach Defence Minister Khaled Al-Obaidi over corruption allegations, Members of Parliament said Thursday.
In the session, 262 lawmakers cast their votes, and minister Al-Obaidi lost a no-confidence vote by 142 papers, while 102 voted against the impeachment in an open session ballot, while 18 abstained.
The session was chaired by Parliament Deputy Speaker Aram Al-Shaikh Mohammad, after Parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri left the session voluntarily.
The no-confidence vote comes in critical times and after fierce fighting to liberate northern city of Mosul from the So-Called Islamic State (ISIL). (end) ahh.mb
