Italy earthquake's death toll rises to 247 people

ROMA, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- The death toll of the destructive earthquake which hit central of Italy early Wednesday reached 247 people, Italian Civil Protection announced Thursday.
The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology registered more 300 aftershocks in areas affected by the disaster with the strongest being at 4.5 degrees on Richter scale, the highest number since the six-magnitude quake.
Meanwhile, Kuwait embassy in Rome said that no Kuwaiti nationals were amongst the victims of the catastrophe.
The embassy said in a statement obtained by KUNA yesterday that the embassy was continuing to monitor the situation, affirming that it had yet to receive any information regarding Kuwaitis amongst the victims of the quake. (end) mn.lb
