American Uni. attack leaves 13 people dead, 35 others wounded

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- At least 13 people were killed and 35 others wounded as the attack targeting the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in capital city Kabul ended on Thursday.
Kabul Police Chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi said that the attack at the AUAF in Dar-ul-Aman ended after 10 hours with at least two insurgents killed.
He confirmed that at least 13 people, including seven students of the AUAF, two security guards of the university, one official from the Visually Impaired Vocational High School, and three soldiers.
Nearly 35 people including nine soldiers were wounded in the attack, he added.
"The attacker used the Visually Impaired Vocational High School to enter into the university. They broke the entrance door by an explosive-laden vehicle," said Rahimi. The police chief said, "Totally there were about 750 students and staff members inside the university. All were evacuated successfully by our personnel." Dozens of students and staff including foreigners were trapped inside the university building. The American University of Afghanistan has over 1,700 students enrolled in the campus.
