Intra-Yemeni talks in Kuwait not failure - UN Envoy

MUSCAT, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- The UN-brokered intra-Yemeni peace talks, recently held in Kuwait, did not fail, but actually addressed all issues that became visible today, UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed affirmed Wednesday.
GCC foreign ministers are to convene, in presence of US Secretary of State John Kerry, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday to discuss outcomes of the intra-Yemeni talks and the subjects that were addressed during the over 90-day event, Ahmed told reporters in the Omani capital.
Gulf countries support efforts that lead to reaching a comprehensive solution for the crisis in Yemen, he said, adding that the solution must be part of the initiatives proposed by the UNSC and GCC States regarding the national dialogue and its outcomes.
The UN envoy expressed his hope that the Jeddah meeting would contribute in renewing GCC support, especially since the meeting will be held in presence of senior representatives of two of the most important partners in the Yemeni issue; the United States and Great Britain. (end) ahr.ma
