Kuwait provides aid to needy people in Kurdistan

IRBIL, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Consulate General in Irbil announced Tuesday the arrival of a Kuwaiti medical aid shipment through Kuwait Society for Relief to displaced Iraqis in Iraq's Kurdistan region.
Omar Al-Kandari, Kuwait's Consul General in Irbil, said in statement to KUNA the shipments were handed to the Ministry of Health in Kurdistan region to the displaced which included medicines and medical supplies to meet their needs.
Al-Kandari added that that shipments were directed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for aiding affected Iraqis.
For his part, official in charge of displaced persons and refugees in the Kurdistan Ministry of Health told KUNA the shipment provided by Kuwait will alleviate the suffering of the Iraqi displaced people and meet their medical needs, thanking Kuwait for its continuous support.
The State of Kuwait started its humanitarian campaign in Iraq last year, where 80,000 food parcels were handed over to the displaced people in Kurdistan.
Since the start of this year, some 45,000 food packages had been provided to the needy in several Iraqi Kurdish regions.(end) sbr.ss
