KUWAIT, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- The success of the Kuwait as capital of Islamic culture for 2016 is very important for our country's reputation, said Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah Tuesday.
This statement to KUNA came after Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud met with members of the planning committee tasked with coordinating and supervising the celebrations.
The meeting touched on the preparations for the finale of event and how to "end it on a high note", said the minister.
Events such as the 41st Kuwait international book fair, preparations for the Islamic moderation conference in Egypt in March 2017, as well as inviting figures and officials to partake the finale of the Kuwait as capital of Islamic culture will hopefully contribute to the success of the event, said the minister.
The Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) chose Kuwait as capital of Islamic culture for 2016 during a meeting for Islamic cultural ministers held in Baku, Azerbaijan 2009. (end) mdm.gta
