KUWAIT, Aug 15 (KUNA) -- Acting National Assembly Speaker MP Abdullah Al-Tamimi hailed shooter Abdullah Al-Rashidi, who earned the bronze medal in the skeet competition at the ongoing 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Al-Rashidi's achievement "bears us all, as lawmakers, a significant responsibility in continuing to support the Kuwaiti youth in the most sufficient manner," Al-Tamimi stated to reporters Monday on sidelines of a reception held for the bronze medalist shooter upon his return at Kuwait International Airport.
Al-Rashidi and his fellow countryman Fehaid Al-Daihani, who won the gold medal in the double trap competition, deserve the best level of honoring for going against all odds to win medals for Kuwait at this grand Olympic arena, and to prove Kuwaitis' competitive abilities in such major international event.
Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim is to host a special honoring ceremony for the two Olympic champions, Al-Tamimi said, noting that the ceremony would be held at the most appropriate and decent way as a gesture of appreciation and support by the Parliament to Al-Rashidi and Al-Daihani.
The reception was held at the airport's VIP hall in presence of Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah, Public Authority for Sports (PAS) Deputy Director General Humoud Fulaiteh, and a large cheering crowd.
