ROME, Aug 5 (KUNA) -- Reggia di Caserta (The Royal Palace of Caserta) is one of Italy's remarkable architectural structures which gained its fame from being "the swan song of the spectacular art of the Baroque, from which it adopted all the features needed to create the illusions of multidirectional space" according to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Constructed in 1751 by the Bourbon Kings of Naples, the Palace consists of six stories built on an area of 47,000 square meters.
The Palace -- which has 1,200 rooms, 1,742 windows, and 34 staircases -- is accompanied by a long-stretching garden of 120 hectares, a three kilometers walkway, as well as breathtaking pools and fountains.
The Reggia di Caserta also houses a museum with various works of art as well as a famous depiction of the Christ nativity scene. (end) mn.gta
