RIYADH, July 30 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Saturday said that it is "deeply concerned" about a deal forged by the Ansarullah movement and political allies of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh to form a joint governing political bureau.
This deal is a flagrant violation of the United Nations (UN) Security Council resolution 2216 and threatens peace talks, said a statement by GCC Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani.
Moreover, Al-Zayani said that the deal encumbers all efforts to find a political solution to the conflict in Yemen and to restore peace and stability in the country.
He also urged the international community to press the two groups to contribute to ongoing peace talks in Kuwait, presided over by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed. (end) ad.nam
