Britain's Lloyds to cut further 3,000 jobs, close 200 branches due to Brexit

LONDON, July 28 (KUNA) -- Britain's Lloyds announced on Thursday an intention to cut a further 3000 jobs and shut down 200 branches in Britain as a repercussion of the referendum on leaving the European Union.
The bank said in a statement today that after Britons had voted for leaving the EU last month, Britain's economy entered a period of uncertainty, adding that the decline in economy may be inevitable.
The bank drew up a plan to cut its administrative spending to 400 million British pound and the general spending to 1.5 billion by the end of next year, it noted.
The bank pointed out that it axed about 9000 employees and shut down 200 branches in 2014.
The announcement of cutting further jobs and shutting down branches comes at a time when the bank's revenues reached 2.5 billion pound for the first six months of this year, compared with 1.2 billion for the same period last year. (end) mrn.hm
