Arab security conference calls on adopting strategy to combat maritime piracy

TUNIS, July 27 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council Mohammad bin Ali Kuman called on urgently adopting a comprehensive strategy to combat maritime piracy and the sneaking of fighters into countries where terrorist organizations are active.
Kuman made this remark, on Wednesday, during the 13th Arab Conference for chiefs of borders, airports and ports security.
He stressed that the Arab region has been seeing turbulences since 2011, which have been caused by extremism, hate speech and regional interferences.
Hence, it is important to find an effective strategy to combat the lack of safety in the region through tightening security at ports of entry to prevent fighters to travel to locations where terrorist groups are being active.
He pointed out that maritime piracy has declined in the past few years due to collaborative efforts made by Arab nations.
Today's conference will focus on finding more ways to combat these criminal acts to lessen unrest in the region. (end) ksj.nfm
