APA meeting of Standing Committee begins in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, July 26 (KUNA) -- The two-day Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) meeting of standing committee on Economic and Sustainable Development Affairs began in Pakistan's federal capital Islamabad on Tuesday.
A delegation from the Kuwait Parliamentary group chaired by the Secretary of the Division Fund, MP Hamoud Mohammad Al-Hamdan and the member of the Executive Committee of the Division, MP Dr. Khalil Abdullah Abul are attending the meeting.
The Committee during the two-day proceedings will ponder over issues being faced by the Asian continent in economic prosperity and social development.
Around 19 countries including Kuwait, representing parliaments and parliamentarians from all over Asia are participating in the meeting.
In his opening remarks, acting APA President and Head of Combodian delegation, Chhit Kim Yeat said that the Standing Committee deals with important issues "of our time which have affected the life and economy in Asia and the world. Being the main producer and main consumer of energy in world, we have to establish a coordination system to optimize the impact on supply and utilization".
The Chairman of the meeting, Paksitan's Leader of the Upper House Raja Zafar ul Haq in his speech said APA Standing Committtee meetings constitute an important mechanism to use the knowledge and experience of Asia's diversified leadership represented at this paltform to scientifically analyze issues at hand and also suggest measures to achieve mutually agreed agendas.(end) sbk.tg
