US offers condolences to those killed in Japan knife attack

WASHINGTON, July 26 (KUNA) -- The US offered its deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the "heinous" attack in Sagamihara, Japan, a US official said Monday.
"There is never any excuse for such violence, but the fact that this attack occurred at a facility for persons with disabilities makes it all the more repugnant and senseless," said National Security Council Spokesperson Ned Price in a statement.
At least 19 people were killed in a knife attack at a mental health facility and 20 were seriously injured, according to media reports. (end) ak.tg
