Russia assures Arab leaders about its keenness on Mideast security

MOSCOW, July 25 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday affirmed his readiness to help in "revamping the Arab League for realizing regional security and confronting international terrorism." Putin, in a message addressed to the Arab Summit that got underway in the Mauritanian capital today, said confronting terrorism should be in tandem with coordinated efforts to resolve the strifes in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen.
The president, in his message posted by the Russian Presidency website, called for respecting States' sovereignty, encouraging comprehensive dialogue and boosting national consensus in troubled nations of the region.
Russia is determined to pursue efforts for resolving the Palestinian cause through bilateral and collective channels, Putin said, expressing dissatisfaction at the current status quo regarding this question. He called for creating "adequate circumstances for launching the negotiating process with aim of establishing the aspired Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital." (end) as.rk
