Trump almost tied with Clinton in some US nat'l polls

WASHINGTON, July 23 (KUNA) -- The official Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump gained more numbers in recent national US polls, pulling closer to presumptive Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton.
In a Reuters/IPSOS poll for the week of the National Republican Convention (RNC), data showed that Trump trailed with a mere three percentage points and according to the four percent margin of error in the poll, they could be considered tied.
The same poll showed Clinton leading by nine points before the convention.
The increase could be attributed to the attention Trump has received over the four-day-long convention on national US media.
Despite the increase, Trump, after the official nomination, has become "a challenge the nation must confront and overcome," the Washington Post said in an editorial piece and it also described him as a "unique threat to American democracy." It claimed that Trump is "uniquely unqualified to serve as president," and "a Trump presidency would be dangerous for the nation and the world." Trumps acceptance speech Thursday night painted a very dark picture of America where he "cherry picked" numbers to showcase that the US is doing much worse than what it actually is, according to the Post.
The New York Times also said that Trump, while maybe uttering accurate numbers, "sometimes failed to offer the entire story, or provide all of the context that might help to explain his numbers." Next week, America's eyes will be on the National Democratic Convention where the current administration is expected to give several speeches endorsing and promoting their party's nominee Hillary Clinton.
