KUWAIT, July 22 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Friday sent a cable to Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, congratulating him, and ministry officials, on thwarting an attempt to smuggle a huge amount of Captagon into the country.
His Highness the Amir, in the cable, praised Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled, ministry undersecretary and officials at the Drugs Control General Department for the diligent and sincere efforts that led to a successful operation.
The attempt to bring 10 million Captagon pills worth KD 25 million into the country was foiled earlier today, as the shipment was professionally hidden in a container coming from Turkey, according to a ministry statement.
His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Muabark Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent similar cables. (end) hb
