WASHINGTON, July 20 (KUNA) -- Defense Ministers arrived at Andrews Air Base in Maryland on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing military campaign against the so-called Islamic State (IS).
Some 27 nations plus NATO have arrived to attend the second meeting of defense ministers of contributing nations to the counter-IS coalition.
The meeting comes at a significant moment in the campaign as the coalition back local forces in the fight to regain Manbij in Syria and Mosul in Iraq from IS fighters.
The meeting will discuss progress to date, the essential next steps in the campaign and how the nations of the coalition can accelerate the drive to deal IS a lasting defeat.
Alongside Secretary of Defence Ash Carter, attending ministers include Kuwaiti Deputy Premier and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Jarrah Al-Sabah, Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and Defence Minister Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Qatar's Foreign Minister Khaled Bin Mohammad Al-Atiyyah.
On the sidelines of the talks, Carter is expected to meet Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammad, an official told KUNA. (end) sd.hb
