State approves 54 tenders worth KD 753.5 mln in Q2

KUWAIT, July 16 (KUNA) -- The number of tenders approved in the second quarter of 2016 reached 54, valued at roughly KD 753.5 million, covering projects related to the government and oil sectors, the Central Tenders Committee (CTC) announced Saturday.
The total estimated value of tenders amounted to KD one billion, a statement by CTC Deputy Chairman Faisal Al-Mezyen said, noting that the value of approved tenders compared to the total value stood at KD 247.2 million.
Moreover, he added that the CTC held 25 meetings during the second quarter of the ongoing year to discuss issues related to public tender services, with a total of 162 tender requests made.
Meanwhile, the value of endorsed bids in the oil sector during the same period reached KD 65.4 million (9 tenders), while those covering government departments stood at KD 688.1 million (45 tenders).
The Public Authority for Housing topped the list of government bodies with the most approved tenders, with KD 288 million (one tender), followed by the Ministry of Public Labor with KD 241.9 million (four tenders) and the Amiri Diwan with 49.3 million (one tender).
On the oil sector side, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) garnered the lion's share of approved tenders with KD 64.3 million (five tenders), followed by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) with KD one million (four tenders). (end) abd.nam
