Turkey detains 11 more suspects over Ataturk Airport attack

ISTANBUL, July 1 (KUNA) -- The Turkish police have detained 11 foreigners suspected of being members of a cell that belongs to the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in relation to the investigation into the attack on Istanbul's Ataturk airport.
The arrests were made during a Friday dawn raid by a counter-terror police squad in the Basaksehir district on the European side of Istanbul, said a security statement relayed by the Turkish Ikhlas News Agency.
This brings the number of people detained in the investigation to 24.
The statement noted that the police had detained four Turkish national on a border crossing southeast of the country on terror suspicions on Wednesday.
A parliamentary source on Thursday said that the three suicide bombers who carried out the airport attack came from Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Three bombers had opened fire in Ataturk Airport Tuesday night before blowing themselves up, killing about 42 people of different nationalities, and wounding 238 others. (end) ta.msa
