French market sheds another 2.97 pct on Brexit vote

PARIS, June 27 (KUNA) -- French share prices continued to lose ground Monday, falling 2.97 percent at closing after Friday's sharp drop on the back of reactions to the "Brexit" referendum to Britain out of the European Union in the coming years.
The CAC 40 index of "Blue Chip" shares ended a volatile and hectic day of trading at 3,984.72 points, below the psychologically-important 4,000-point level. The market had opened Monday at 4,073.72 points after the CAC 40 was battered last Friday and fell over 8.0 percent on the publication of the Brexit results, before recovering marginally.
Traders at "Boursorama" brokerage here said market volume was high at nearly EUR 6.7 billion, more than double a regular day's worth of trading.
French shares were weak at the outset Monday, dropping around 1.0 percent at midday but the fall-off began seriously after the lower opening of Wall Street. (pickup previous) jk.hb
