KUWAIT, June 27 (KUNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah has addressed a written message to his Tanzanian counterpart affirming necessity of boosting ties between Kuwait and Tanzania.
Kuwait Ambassador to Tanzania Jassem Al-Najem has delivered a message to Tanzanian Defense Minister Hussein Mwinyi related to bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and means of bolstering these ties, according to an embassy statement.
Ambassador Al-Najem conveyed greetings of Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah to his Tanzanian counterpart, wishing to see further enhancement of the relations between the two countries' defense ministries.
The ambassador said Minister Mwinyi asserted necessity of cementing the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation by means of exchanging officials' visits and examining prospects of signing memoranda of understanding for enhancing the mutual defense and security cooperation.
He also quoted the minister as expressing desire to hold joint drills by the Kuwaiti and Tanzanian defense forces, as a prelude to holding such exercises with other GCC states in the future.
Moreover, Minister Mwinyi underscored necessity of cooperation for combating terrorism, swapping information and expertise at the military level. (end) rk
