Brexit to cause no changes in Iran's approach to UK - Tehran

TEHRAN, June 24 (KUNA) -- Iran on Friday said that the Britons' vote to leave the European Union (EU) will cause no changes to the Islamic Republic's approach toward the country.
Iran has always called for expansion of relations with European countries on the basis of mutual respect and non-intervention in each other's internal affairs and Britain's exit from the European Union will not make any changes to the Islamic Republic of Iran's approach in this regard, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
In a historic referendum yesterday, the Britons voted by 52 percent to 48 percent to leave the 28-member political and economic bloc after 43 years of membership.
As a democracy, Iran respects the British people's vote on leaving the EU and deems it as in line with the will of the majority of the people of that country in regulating their foreign relations," the statement added. (end) mw.msa
